What's new in BigBlueButton 2.7!

Timer and Stopwatch

The ability to add a countdown (time) or count up (stopwatch) is displayed to all participants in

the session. An audible alarm is played when the timer elapses.

To activate a timer or stopwatch:

1. Select the action menu

2. Select Activate timer/stopwatch

The side panel will update and show you the timer/stopwatch options.

Users will see the stopwatch or timer in the upper right-hand corner.

Reactions Bar

The Reactions Bar makes it much easier for students to respond with emojis to the

teacher. The emoji is displayed in the user avatar area for 1 minute.

To activate the reactions bar press the raise hand icon.

You can activate the emoji you want shown in the avatar beside your name in the user list.

The emoji will be displayed for 1 minute or until it is unselected. 

Download of Orignial Presenataion

You can now download the original version of the presentation as well as the current version

including all annotations made during the session.

You can enable the ability to download the original presentation, from the Upload/Manage Presentations window, by selecting the three-dot hamburger beside the presentation name and selecting Enable download of the presentation.

In the main presentation area, you will see a down arrow in the bottom left-hand corner.  Clicking on this icon will download a copy of the original presentation.

Disable self-view of Webcam

You can now disable the self-view of your own webcam. This will reduce the fatigue of viewing

your own image, often people focus on their appearance over the content being shared.

Disable self-view:

1. Click on the carrot beside your name

2. Select Disable self-view

When you disable the view you will see an image of yourself with an overlay reminding you that your webcam is still active and others see you.

Enable self-view:

1. Click on the carrot beside your name

2. Select Enable self-view

Grid Layout

This new layout is a graphical representation of all the participants in the meeting, via avatar

or webcam. This makes it easy to tell who is speaking or presenting by highlighting the speaker square in blue.

Invite Moderators to Breakout Rooms

For team meetings in which everyone is a moderator, you can now have BigBlueButton send

out invites to moderators.

Share Camera as Content

In hybrid classes, there is often a need to display a physical whiteboard or focus on a particular

student, or area of the classroom. You can now do this via a webcam shared to the main

content area.

* Note the camera being shared can not be in use (as your main webcam) at the time of selection

To share the camera as content:

1. Select the action button

2. Select Share camera as content

You will then be presented with the Webcam settings model, where you will be able to select a webcam (as long as it is not in use already)

To stop sharing the camera as content:

1. Select the action button

2. Select Stop camera as content
