Screen Sharing .JNLP file associations
In some instances a presenter attempting to share their desktop in a Windows OS will encounter instances where the .jnlp file association is incorrect or associating with an incompatible launch program.
To reassign the .jnlp file associations, have the user locate the screenshare.jnlp file in Windows explorer and right-click can choose Properties.
This shows the screenshare.jnlp Properties window
The “Opens with:” should say Java(™) Web Start Launcher with the Java icon. If not, click the Change button. This will show a dialog asking how to open .jnlp files.
Click More apps.
Scroll down until you see “Look for another app on this PC”.
Navigate to c:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_151\bin
In some cases the Java folder is located in c:\Program Files (86x)
Choose javaws and click Open.
If you look at the icon for the file screenshare.jnlp file should now show the Java icon.
Restart the screen sharing - you should now be able to screen share.
